Q Bar

Added on 10 June 2007 16 Comments

VENUE CLOSED

Q Bar is located just opposite the Caravelle Hotel on Lam Son Square and is popular amongst Ho Chi Minh City’s sophisticated business travellers and mature expat community. Well known as one of the more “gay friendly” bars in the city. Low ceilings, artsy decor, intimate “cubby hole” couch areas and violet lighting give the place a retro feel. House DJ plays mainly dance and clubhouse beats. Normally opens until about 12:00am-1:00am on weekdays and 3:00am on weekends. Drinks are a little on the pricey side.

The Mojitos are great here, not as good as Anthony’s over at the Park, but very drinkable. I brought the souvenir T-shirt.

before you get to the bar be prepared to be damned by beggars & touts offering services of girls in the main square

this is a nice spot with out door & indoor seating ?

outdoor seating sealed off more popular ,
interior nice different and relaxing just to chill or for quiet chat .
atmosphere sometimes disrupted by hyper western tourist thinking people are interested in his social comentary on life ( easily spotted wearing cheap thong , tshirt, short and crap sunglasses enven though it is night)

waitresses are nice , barstaff behind counter have to much to say about their patrons behind their back s, comments usualy aimed towards overweight western women when their backs are turned.
    snearing not a nice trait.

remember please : tip only if staff deserve it , this can be a great attitude adjuster in regards to service & manners

remember good professional bar staff can earn 3 to 5 times the annual salary of an accountant which is deserved they know what good customer service is. remember when getting a taxi choose vina taxi ( yellow cabs) or the green&white coloured one their meters are correctly programmed and drivers are prperly vetted by their companies.

The original owner who fitted the bar out left over 10 years ago due to too many “payments” required. Seems the same thing is happening again. He moved on and opened the successful Q Bar in Bangkok.
